Lamentations chapter three doesn't end with the verses of desolation and despair that we were reflecting on yesterday. The writer continues on as his hope and strength of faith is renewed.
He writes,
"But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” (21-24)
"The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord ...to sit alone in silence when the Lord has imposed it..." (25-26,28)
"For the Lord will not reject forever." (31)
"Although he causes grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love; for he does not willingly afflict or grieve anyone." (32-33)
"Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the Lord. Let us lift up our hearts as well as our hands to God in heaven." (40-41)
I called on your name, O Lord, from the depths of the pit; you heard my plea, “Do not close your ear to my cry for help, but give me relief!” You came near when I called on you; you said, “Do not fear!” (55-57)
"You have taken up my cause, O Lord, you have redeemed my life." (58)
How marvellous that we can quiet our hearts, seek the Lord and know when we call on Him, we have the blessed assurance that He will come near to us when we do so!
God bless you.
